BDLUC in one paragraph

BDLUC (BD Live Urban City, bdluc.com) is a free, bilingual directory of Bangladeshi companies, presented as a live 3D city that runs in the browser. Every company is a building: districts are industries, streets are lines of business, building height reflects team size and building style reflects founding year. Day and night follow Dhaka time. Owners list their company for free in about two minutes, or claim an existing public listing after an identity check, and visitors can suggest companies that are missing. BDLUC is built by AutoProbaho.

Key facts

Languages: English and Bangla, across the whole site.

Districts: fourteen, including the Bazaar for F-commerce and online shops, Fashion and RMG, Tech, Pharma, Finance, Manufacturing, Agriculture and fisheries, Healthcare and Education.

How buildings work: two floors for teams of up to ten, up to eighteen floors for more than a thousand people. Brick before 1995, concrete from 1995 to 2011, glass from 2012.

Cost: listing and claiming are free. Sponsored plots, rooftop billboards and vehicle-fleet sponsorships are coming soon.

Access: the 3D city runs in a modern browser; a plain Explore list serves slower connections.

Story angles

A directory you can walk through: what Bangladesh's economy looks like when every company is a building.

The Bazaar: giving Facebook-page sellers, a large part of Bangladeshi commerce that most directories leave out, a visible place in the business world.

Brick, concrete, glass: how a street's buildings show which industries are old and which are being rebuilt by new companies.

Bangla, not an afterthought: a business directory that works fully in Bangla, not just in English.
