Top 10 companies in Bangladesh by market value
· Ranking
Ten companies make up nearly 40 percent of the value of everything listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange. Here they are, in order, with a link to each one's page in the city.
How this list is ranked
“Biggest” can mean sales, staff, assets or value. This list uses market capitalisation on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE): the share price multiplied by the number of shares. It is public, comparable and checked every trading day, which makes it the fairest single yardstick for listed companies.
The ranking is the one reported by The Daily Star on 12 July 2026. Prices move every day, so the order can shift; the latest values are on the DSE website. Large companies that are not listed on the DSE have no public market value and are not included.
The top 10
- Grameenphone (DSE: GP): mobile network operator. Tk 35,053 crore, about USD 2.84 billion.
- Square Pharmaceuticals (SQURPHARMA): the country's largest medicine maker. Tk 19,856 crore, about USD 1.61 billion.
- Robi Axiata (ROBI): mobile operator under the Robi and Airtel brands. Tk 17,075 crore, about USD 1.38 billion.
- BRAC Bank (BRACBANK): private commercial bank and parent of bKash. About USD 1.23 billion.
- Walton Hi-Tech Industries (WALTONHIL): refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions and other electronics. About USD 1.08 billion.
- British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BATBC): cigarette manufacturer.
- Marico Bangladesh (MARICO): maker of Parachute hair oil and other personal-care brands.
- United Power Generation & Distribution (UPGDCL): independent power producer with gas-fired plants.
- Berger Paints Bangladesh (BERGERPBL): paints and coatings.
- LafargeHolcim Bangladesh (LHB): cement, with an integrated plant in Chhatak, Sunamganj.
The Daily Star gave taka and dollar values for the top five; for the rest it gave the order only, so we do not quote figures for them.
What the list tells you
Two mobile operators, a drug maker, a bank, an electronics maker, consumer goods, power, paint and cement: the top ten mirror what Bangladeshis buy every day. Five of them are subsidiaries of multinational groups (Telenor, Axiata, British American Tobacco, Marico and Holcim), and five are Bangladeshi.
The DSE's total market capitalisation in the same report was Tk 3,60,895 crore, and these ten held nearly 40 percent of it. That concentration is why a handful of share prices can move the whole index.
Big names you won't find here
Some of the country's largest employers and brands are not listed on the DSE, so they have no market value to compare: groups such as PRAN-RFL, Bashundhara, Meghna Group, Akij Group and Abul Khair Group, drug maker Incepta, and the Bangladesh operations of Standard Chartered and HSBC.
