Top pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh

· Ranking

Bangladesh makes almost all of the medicine it uses. These are the companies that make the most of it, ranked by their share of the domestic market.

Where the ranking comes from

Most of Bangladesh's big drug makers are not listed on the stock exchange, so market value cannot compare them. The industry's own yardstick is IQVIA, a health-data company that tracks medicine sales through pharmacies. The figures below are IQVIA's 2025 data as published by BRAC EPL Investments in its equity note on Square Pharmaceuticals (FY2025 annual results). Sales are in crore taka.

The same note puts the domestic market at more than Tk 30,000 crore a year, with local companies meeting about 98 percent of the country's demand and exporting to more than 150 countries.

The top 10 by market share

  1. Square Pharmaceuticals: 17.4% share, Tk 6,434 crore, up 13.0% on the year. Founded in 1958 in Pabna; listed on the DSE (SQURPHARMA).
  2. Incepta Pharmaceuticals: 12.8%, Tk 4,720 crore, up 20.9%. Founded in 1999; also makes biologics and vaccines.
  3. Beximco Pharmaceuticals: 9.6%, Tk 3,537 crore, up 12.4%. Known for inhalers and injectables; listed (BXPHARMA).
  4. Healthcare Pharmaceuticals: 7.7%, Tk 2,859 crore, up 18.6%.
  5. Renata: 5.8%, Tk 2,126 crore, up 26.3%. Formerly Pfizer's Bangladesh unit, with an animal health business; listed (RENATA).
  6. Eskayef Pharmaceuticals: 4.9%, Tk 1,829 crore, up 19.2%. Part of Transcom Group.
  7. Opsonin Pharma: 4.7%, Tk 1,735 crore, up 14.8%. Plant in Barishal.
  8. Aristopharma: 4.4%, Tk 1,613 crore, up 16.6%.
  9. Popular Pharmaceuticals: 4.1%, Tk 1,525 crore, up 44.7%, the fastest growth in the top ten.
  10. ACME Laboratories: 3.9%, Tk 1,425 crore, up 16.5%. Listed (ACMELAB).

Just outside the ten is ACI, whose pharmaceutical business had 3.8 percent (Tk 1,396 crore).

What stands out

Square has led the market for decades, but the gap is narrowing: Incepta grew faster than Square in 2025, and so did seven of the other eight in the top ten. The top three together hold roughly 40 percent of the market. Six of the ten are privately held and not on the stock exchange, which is why a market-share ranking tells you much more about this industry than share prices do.
